FUGU LUGGAGE has been measured to comply with the standard airline size limitations on baggage. The suitcase is thus designed to expand from the size of a maximum regulation sized carry-on size to the size of a maximum regulation sized check-in.
Strength and Stability
FUGU LUGGAGE is made from durable materials, which have proven to be strong enough to successfully pass an altitude crash test.
In addition, the suitcase is water resistant and the walls absorb shock to better protect your items inside.
FUGU Shelves
FUGU LUGGAGE includes built-in shelves that can be attached or collapsed at any point. The shelves enable the suitcase to double as a storage unit, eliminating the need to unpack into a hotel closet and then later repack. The shelves have the added bonus of keeping belongings neat and tidy throughout any journey.

FUGU Laptop Case
FUGU LUGGAGE comes with a removable laptop case, which can double as a laptop stand. Our custom-made laptop case fits both into and on FUGU LUGGAGE, and can be used to store your laptop and personal items. This case provides you with the option of either keeping your personal belongings with you at all times, or storing your items with your checked-in bag under the plane.
FUGU Vacuum Bags
The same pump that inflates the walls of FUGU LUGGAGE can also deflate vacuum bags, making the use of vacuum bags extremely convenient for travellers by eliminating the need to carry an external pump with which to deflate the vacuum bags.
Weight
FUGU LUGGAGE does not weight significantly more than the average suitcase. Despite the addition of inflatable walls and an extra handle, the difference in the suitcase's overall weight is only a few hundred grams (less than a pound). The FUGU LUGGAGE suitcase is made of plastic, which contributes to the fact that it is lighter than many standard cloth suitcases!
Movement
It is simple to drag FUGU LUGGAGE in either of its forms, and to turn it full circle (360 degrees), as a result of the addition of its "spinner wheels".
How FUGU LUGGAGE Works
There are three ways to inflate the walls of FUGU LUGGAGE:
1. Pressing a button in order to activate the built-in electric pump
2. Externally attaching any regular air pump
3. Breathing into an external tube
While the easiest way to expand and collapse the suitcase is the first option listed above, there are also other options available to modify the size of the suitcase, all of which are quick and easy to use.
Innovation
FUGU LUGGAGE was developed in an attempt to find a solution the "suitcase dilemma." FUGU LUGGAGE's founders realized the need for a solution to the dilemma in 2013, when one of our founders, Isaac, found that the carry-on that he had packed to take on a business trip was not sufficient to transport gifts back home to his loved ones after the completion of the trip.
While searching for a solution to this dilemma, Isaac and the FUGU LUGGAGE team noted that all suitcases on the market are essentially the same. Their research of the luggage market found them unable to obtain a quality suitcase that adequately adjusted itself to fit all travellers' needs. This lack of flexibility led the FUGU LUGGAGE team to realize that the time had come to rethink how a suitcase should look and function.
During the initial stages of FUGU LUGGAGE's development, the FUGU LUGGAGE team applied for a patent through Luzzatto & Luzzatto, one of the top patent attorney firms in Israel.

The idea for FUGU LUGGAGE came to Isaac Atlas in early 2013. He felt that there had to be a better way to travel, that would not force travellers to make difficult decisions regarding packing space. With the help of Daniel Gindis and David Lifshitz, he developed FUGU LUGGAGE.

What are the size and dimensions of the FUGU suitcase?
FUGU LUGGAGE’s dual dimensions are as follows: in its carry-on form, the suitcase measures 52cm (length) x 40cm (width) x 20cm (height); in its expanded check-in form, FUGU LUGGAGE measures 52cm (length) x 40cm (width) x 67cm (height). In both its carry-on and check-in forms, the FUGU suitcase is also able to increase its height by an additional 3cm, if so desired.
Does the FUGU suitcase’s dimensions meet airline regulations?

Is the FUGU suitcase strong enough to withstand cabin pressure and rough handling by the airport employees?
The FUGU suitcase has been designed to be extremely durable; its side panels are made of a special PVC material, known as “drop-stitch material,” which is used in the production of surfboards and flotation devices. This ensures that the suitcase is impact resistant, and strong enough to withstand heavy abuse without incurring damage. We have thrown FUGU LUGGAGE down flights of stairs, dropped it off of a two-story building, placed the prototype under the weight of a car, and subjected it to air pressure tests, in addition to some other serious stress tests, and the walls stayed intact. The inflatable walls have also been designed to be shock absorbent, meaning that not only will the suitcase hold up under extreme conditions, but will also ensure that your items are not damaged, even if the suitcase falls from high up, or is knocked over. FUGU LUGGAGE has been subjected to significant stress tests, and achieved results better than many suitcases that are already on the market.
How much does the FUGU suitcase weigh?
FUGU LUGGAGE’s overall weight will be four and a half kilograms, both in its expanded and collapsed forms, which is less than the average large suitcase. To give you a comparison, Samsonite’s Hyperspace 30.5” Spinner Luggage weighs 6.21 kilograms!
Is there an option to expand the FUGU suitcase only partway?
At the moment, the FUGU suitcase can only be used in one of two forms – check-in size and carry-on size. The rationale for only having these two options is that if the suitcase is any larger than it is in its carry-on mode, it will need to be checked-in at the airport anyways. Due to popular demand, we have begun looking into the creation of smaller FUGU models, to be used in future designs.
Where is the FUGU suitcase available for purchase?
FUGU LUGGAGE is only available for preorder through our website (www.fuguluggage.com/shop), at this point in time. Preorder your suitcases before prices rise when FUGU LUGGAGE hits the market later this year!
When will FUGU preorders be shipped?
Should all go according to plan, the suitcases should be ready for production by the end of summer 2015, and the preorders shipped later this year, before the product reaches stores.
Is the price on the website subject to change, and will the price change when the product hits stores?
The price on the website will rise as the production date approaches. Additionally, the selling price once FUGU hits the market will be significantly higher than the current price on the website.
What is the final date to preorder online?
There is no fixed date as to when we will no longer be selling the FUGU suitcase as a preorder, so theoretically, prices could change at any time. Such a change will, of course, be dependent on the number of preorders that we receive.
In which colors is the FUGU suitcase available?
At this point in time, the FUGU suitcase is only available in Stone Grey, Plum Bordeaux, Deep Ocean Blue, Deep Red Rose, Charcoal Black, Citrus Green, and Bright Grape Purple. As we approach FUGU’s production date, it is likely that additional colors will become available based on consumer demand.
When will the FUGU suitcase be available in stores internationally?
FUGU is currently in its advanced stages of research and development. Consequently, it will take six to eighteen months before products will become readily available to the wider market. Currently, there is no an exact date, or list of countries in which the FUGU suitcase will be available, but we aim for it to be available as soon as possible, and to as many countries as possible.
What warranty is associated with FUGU?
As soon as we have a production line ready, and have lined up retailers, we will be able to offer replacement suitcases and complete insurance coverage, with terms and conditions similar to those that leading brands provide to their customers.
Is the FUGU suitcase patent protected?
The unique technological developments associated with FUGU and the product itself are patent protected. The name FUGU LUGGAGE has also been copyrighted.
